Before and after

We have a point in the future: I will go to bed (for example).

In the conditional sentence, “before I go to bed” or “after I go to bed” is a conditional part.

So we think about the future but say it in present tense.

“before I go to bed” (NOT before I will go)

“after I go to bed” (NOT after I will go)

“Go to bed” is a point in the future.

There will be something before this point:

I will read a book before I go to bed

I will have shower before I go to bed

I will watch a film before I go to bed

There will be something after this point:

I will not be online after I go to bed

I will not answer the calls after I go to bed
